St. Pius X School
Constructed in two phases, this new building replaces the aging classroom buildings of the original school. The first phase comprised preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school classrooms. The second phase provided classrooms for the middle school as well as administrative offices. A future phase is planned to provide new library and cafeteria functions.
Included within the plan are two ICC/FEMA community storm shelters capable of protecting all the entire school. The storm shelters are designed to provide space important functions for day to day use with large storm doors which can be closed in the event of an emergency.
A ground source heat pump system is designed to individually serve each classroom module, which allows the school to operate and maintain the building simply and flexibly.
